TELL ME A TALE IN 120 WORDS
Welcome to June 7.
Today’s prompt is: If you had a billion dollars how would you use it?
So that you don’t feel so alone in your embarrassment, I’ll share a vignette with you:

If I had a billion dollars, I’d…
…pay off my kid’s student loans,
…send money to my sister,
…build a group home for someone who is presently living with too many people, and help fund it,
…give 10% to charities I will not name.
And last, if there was anything left over, I’d remodel my home.
But first of all, I’d run to my tax accountant and ask, (after taking a deep breath) “How can I accomplish my dreams so I don’t end up in bankruptcy court, and set up a trust fund for my family that won’t make them pay so much in taxes that I might as well not be sending them anything.”
Budgeting is not my forte.
Here are the rules:
- A prompt for #TMAT120 will be given the first Thursday of every month. The prompt challenge begins whenever it’s that day in your time zone. It ends on the 1st Thursday of the next month.

Happy June! Here’s mine
A cool billion eh? I’d suddenly have a lot of friends.
No doubt it would be just my luck for the Tax Man to take a hefty chunk, but that still leave lots for me.
First thing would be to pay off Bro’s mortgage and any other debts, then give him a mill so that he can officially retire and relax!
Hubs and I would then take a holiday to deliver the cheque in person!
No point in investing it, the bastards take their cut and then fold.
It would be the spending spree of a lifetime, but I couldn’t spend it all, even handing out ten pound notes in the street.
I think I’d decorate my bedroom with it.

Fantastic idea! Theives will be so busy trying to tear down the wallpaper the’ll be easy to catch. 🙂

I do charity work every day, too. A lot of my recipients are ungrateful bastards, though.

I think it has a lot to do with the fact that we live in the age of “entitlement.” During my parents time they accepted “charity” only when there was no other option, and gave back to the community as much as possible when they were doing well.

If I had $1,000,000,000, I would spend the first weeks researching exotic travel locations. Then I would travel to extravagant destinations for extended stays. There would be no camping involved in my trips.
I would hike El Camino de Santiago in Spain, find lemurs in Madagascar, swim in the turquoise waters of French Polynesia, and visit the temple at Angkor Wat in Cambodia. I would dive in the Great Blue Hole near Belize and the Great Barrier Reef off the northeastern coast of Australia. I would hike in Patagonia and cruise to Antarctica. I would bring my family along, and maybe some friends too (sometimes).
Or maybe I would give it all to charity.

A little to charity.
Whew!!! 120 words exactly! My problem with this challenge is that each month I always read your response before writing my own. Yours is so good and so funny, that I cannot think of anything else to say on the topic. Mine really is much better with all of the pictures I added. I posted it on my blog here:

My word counter said 121, but I’m thinking that (sometimes) is not to be counted as a word. 🙂

I used a word program to do the count, and have also found that when you use ellipses….like this, it makes two words look like one. But I didn’t count the one word you put into parenthesis, so it’s all good. 🙂

1. I would donate half of it to the education of the underprivileged children
2. From the remaining half, Travel around the world with family and friends
3. Have my own big library and have the best of editions
4. Have an art studio to paint and invite others who would join in

People need to see the pictures on your blog that go with the words. They’re so descriptive of your plans for a billion dollars. I’d love to see 67 more words about where you’d like to travel.

If, When I win a billion dollars, there are a billion things I would do.
First the practical/boring things:
-Get the best accountant in the world!
-Create gigantic trust accounts for both of my daughters.
-Pay off my ex’s debts and maybe even buy him a small/tiny/minuscule house. Yeah, I’m a nice person, sucker that way!
Now the fun things:
-Buy a luxury Range Rover Sports SUV.
-Buy vacation places in, Costa Rica, England, and NYC. And travel ALOT!
-Create the biggest, best, stray cat sanctuary and hire homeless, older, former cat hoarders to look after all of the cats because I know that they would love all of them.
-Hire a cleaner and cook, because I hate doing both!

I know! That’s why I hate how so much of our lives are via text of some sort. We need to phone each other one day, that would be a blast!

Here’s the thing with having a billion dollars: that amount of money is self-replicating. Interest will accrue because there is no mattress in the world big enough for me to shove that much currency underneath it. So in this fantasy, the question is not how I’d spend a billion, but how I’d behave if I were suddenly stinking rich. Here’s where I expect my priorities would lie:
• Worthy pursuits: charities, promoting world peace, securing my family’s future, etc.
• Shoes
• Travel (wearing new shoes)
• Shoe storage (requiring more houses)
• More travel (to my houses)
• Furniture (for the houses)
• Therapy (how did my shoes get so out of control?)
• Creating nonprofit to donate shoes
