Intuition

tsunami
.
Walking the horizon of a quiet life,
toes sink into pristine beach,
the echo of a distant train
calls out, “danger.”
Water recedes,
intuition knows,
then, you remember.
The heart fights to
escape. You dare
not look, you
dare not
believe
until
the moment a dark wall
casts your last shadow.

My mind keeps screaming, “Something isn’t right.”  It could be small, it could be big, but the disquiet permeates through me.

It’s 1:00 am.  Maybe, after writing it out, I can finally get some sleep.
