Day 18 NaPoRwiMo prompt: ruba’i is a four-line stanza, with a rhyme scheme of AABA. It should be as easy as pie (if you make the innards in a blender and use pre-made crust).
Whose house this is I think I know.
The dogs live here, they come and go
through doggie doors the world is theirs.
They let the humans live here, though.
Whose house this is, cats think they know.
The dogs are simply here for show,
they run off strangers at the gate,
cats rank above, dogs rank below.
But humans rank beneath a cur
we open cat food, pet their fur.
The office desk is where they sleep.
If we comply, they just might purr.
The grassy acres crooked with trails,
by dogs and cats with high-held tails,
well-traveled by 4-footed beasts,
one woman and a human male.
